Depth Staging

We utilized depth staging to create more depth in our pictures. Mainly, we shot an object closeup and the background would become slightly blurry, producing depth from the object to the background. The opposite of the object becoming blurry and the background being in focus also yielded depth. Finally, we took the pictures in black and white to depict the depth more clearly.

  1. I really like your photos. You do a good job of showing the contrast between the object in front and the object in back. I like the black and white. It makes the depth staging more prominent. I also like how in 4 of your pictures include leading lines. It makes the depth staging have more depth than if you were just doing it between two objects. Good Job!

  2. I love your photos. They all have a nature/earthy feel. I love how their all close up and the background is blurry but still effective. The only one that didn't hit the mark was the last one. The object in the center is distracting to the eye. The rest are amazing, good job

  3. I love your photos. I like how they are centered around plants, leaves, and trees. It gives it an earthy tone and feeling. Next time, I would play with the effects on picmonkey.

  4. I think all your photos are great examples of depth staging. I think your strongest examples are the second and third photo. You did a really good job on focusing in both photos. I think photo that least illustrated the idea of depth staging was the last photo, it doesn't feel focused on one subject. Overall I think you did a great job.

  6. Your photos are all great! I think your third photo is the strongest example of creating depth with staging and I really love how the background is blurry. The last photo is your least successful example because the photo seems flat and doesn't display enough depth.
